FERNDALE, Calif. — November 4, 2026, election-night update. A parcel tax proposal to support the Ferndale Fire Protection District is slightly above its two-thirds voter approval threshold in the last unofficial election-night report from Humboldt County. Measure F has 425 Yes votes and 191 No votes, or 68.99% Yes, according to Redheaded Blackbelt’s November 4 breakdown of the county’s final election-night report.
Why 68.99% is important
Measure F is a special parcel tax, which requires a two-thirds affirmative vote. At the time of this report, its 68.99% support is about 2.32 percentage points above the threshold. The previous election-night batch showed 73.31% Yes, illustrating that the margin can change materially as ballots are added. The current numbers do not mean the tax has been finally approved: eligible mail and provisional ballots remain subject to the official canvass.
What the measure would pay for
The published Measure F ballot description says the proposal would establish a fire-protection and emergency-services parcel tax ranging from $5 to $600 annually, depending on property use, with annual inflation adjustments capped at 4% and no stated expiration date. The estimated proceeds are about $116,000 per year for fire protection and emergency response. These are proposal terms and estimates, not revenue already collected.
Different from Ferndale’s school bond
Ferndale voters also considered Measure E, a separate $7 million school facilities bond, which had 370 Yes (54.81%) and 305 No in the same reported count — just below its 55% threshold. The measures have different jurisdictions, purposes and approval thresholds. California58’s separate Ferndale city council and Measure E story covers the school vote and council races.
Where to confirm a later count
Humboldt County officials must finish processing eligible ballots and certify the election before a result becomes final. Consult the Humboldt County election office and its subsequent result releases. A report labeled “final election night” means the last batch released on election night, not final certification.
