FERNDALE, Calif. — October 31, 2026. With the winter rainy season approaching, emergency officials in Humboldt County are inviting Ferndale residents and their neighbors in the Eel River Valley to learn about flood risks and practical household preparations.
The Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services has scheduled a free community meeting on Tuesday, November 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ferndale City Hall, 834 Main Street, Ferndale, CA 95536.
What will be discussed?
According to the county’s event announcement, the meeting will cover potential local flooding, ways to prepare for rainy-season hazards, and where to find reliable emergency updates. Participants will also have an opportunity to connect with county emergency staff and other community members.
Humboldt County says the session is open to everybody, including people who live outside Ferndale. The county also plans a livestream on the Humboldt County Office of Emergency Services Facebook event page for people unable to attend in person.
How to prepare before flooding
Residents can use the meeting as a starting point to review evacuation routes, check local alert enrollment and make a household communication plan. People living near low-lying roads or flood-prone areas should follow official warnings and never drive through floodwater.
A preparedness meeting does not mean authorities have forecast a particular flood for November 17 or issued an evacuation order. It is an advance opportunity to understand hazards before severe weather arrives.
